Hello Patton Community, As I sit and write this, I am in awe of the fact that 2014 is quickly coming to a close. As any year closes out, we generally create some space to reflect on our year. From a reflection standpoint, there are so many things that I am proud from a personal perspective as well as a school perspective. We are all blessed to be part of this nurturing community at Patton where the needs of the students are at the heart of everything we do. When it comes to goal setting or creating resolutions, each of us carry them out for different lengths of time. Some of us are great at creating goals and seeing them through, while others will have great intentions, but fall off the wagon. (I've been there...) Resolutions and goals, however, are not just for adults. There are long lasting benefits to working with children and setting goals with them. If you are interested, this link will take you to a Huffington Post Article, titled, Teaching Children Confidence Through Goal Setting. My hope for you over this break is that you are able to find time to spend with family and friends. Take a risk and express your appreciation for someone. It will not only fill you, but fill the recipient as well. Have a wonderful winter break, Eric Larson | Principal, Patton Elementary School PARENT ACADEMY Back in the fall, our kindergarten and first grade literacy team hosted a literacy night. We really appreciated the feedback we received from that and have created "Parent Academy." Our goal is to provide you with some tools for you as parents so you can extend the learning at home. Right now we are in the very beginning stages. We hope to build a library of resources for you over time. Please check out Parent Academy. PATTON FAMILY HOUR OF CODE Several families have already RSVP'd to our Family Hour of Code on January 22, at 6:30pm. If you are interested but haven't let us know you are coming, please fill out the form below. Click here if you'd like to see a video of our students from our week of code.
