Thank You PTA Thank you to the PTA for their efforts in putting together the Back to School Bash! The turn out was fantastic, and it speaks to how connected the Patton Community is! What a great way to start the year!
Patton Playground: After School Hours If at the end of the day you are staying with your child to play on the Patton playground, please be aware that the CAP (Children at Play) program also utilizes this space at the end of the day. With many children outside, we ask that you are supervising your children and helping us adhere to what we teach the kids at school to be safe, be kind, and follow directions. This way everyone can enjoy the playground at the same time. Thanks in advance! 1. Parents must personally transport all medications to school. Please do not send any in backpacks. 2. If a student is unable to participate in gym/recess or if a student has a broken bone/major injury, a doctor's note is required in order to be excused from gym/recess. -Sarah Klancnik, RN Save The Date Please see below all of the grade level performance dates for the year. From District 25Special Services Think Tank Interested in helping connect families with students with special needs – with each other & with their school community? Join a group of parents and educators to brainstorm ways we can foster more relationships through district programs, staff development, education of all families, and community partnerships. Our next meeting is Wednesday, September 5th from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Administration Center. Our topic for this month is “speakers/programs we can offer” so come ready to share ideas. Future meetings include October 5 (10:30 am), November 5 (6:30 pm), and December 5 (10:30 am). Feel free to contact Dr. Lori Bein with questions at [email protected]. Bringing Your Dog to School? Many of us love pets of all kinds! Dr. Bein has had dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, chameleons, and more. Bringing pets onto school property, however, can cause some concerns. We do have students who are allergic to some pets. We, also, have students who are very afraid of dogs. If you do need to bring a pet with you to pick up your students or to view an outside sporting event, please keep your pet leashed and please clean up after it. Also, please know that some children are very anxious seeing a dog on school grounds. Thank you for helping our students feel safe at school. Welcome to a Brand New School Year! We are officially one week in! We truly hope your kids have loved their first week. Below you will find a few updates and our opening day video. During Curriculum Night we will share with all of you how you can get involved in our Brand New year as well. Have a wonderful weekend. Eric Larson and Kelly Vignocchi If your child is late to school... School begins at 9:05. If your child is arriving to school at 9:05 or later, the individual dropping them off needs to come into the building to sign the student in. Curriculum Night Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 30, from 6:00-7:55 as this is the evening that Patton will be hosting Curriculum Night. Below you will find the schedule for each grade level in addition to PE, Art, Music, and LMC. For returning families, you may recall that there used to be a time slot where all families came into the Commons. We have eliminated that portion of the evening so as to give more time to the classroom teachers. For the PE, Art, Music, and LMC portion of the evening, this is a meet and greet opportunity where you can visit the classrooms and talk with the teachers who will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Back to School Bash: 6:00-7:30, Friday, August 31 The PTA is in need of volunteers to help out with the Back to School Bash. If you are able, please follow this link to sign up! Good Evening Patton Families, Can you believe that school starts for your kids on Tuesday?! The teachers and staff have been working really hard to prepare for the beginning of the year. The school feels like there is life in it, and all we need now are 445 Panthers in the building and everything will feel complete! Below are some updates for you to review. We are really excited about the online attendance reporting system that we really hope families will try when reporting an absence this year. Also, just as a final reminder, supply drop off is on Monday from 2:40-3:20. There will be at least one more update coming before school starts and we will have information about pick up and drop off to refresh everyone from last year (and to inform our new families). We hope you have a wonderful weekend! Sincerely, Eric Larson & Kelly Vignocchi CURRICULUM NIGHT Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 30, from 6:00-7:55 as this is the evening that Patton will be hosting Curriculum Night. TRAFFIC VOLUNTEERS NEEDED There are many ways in which Patton is unique and special. One of those ways is the long standing parent run traffic team. It can be easy to take it for granted because they have been a fixture in our pick up and drop off lanes for so many years. However, the work that they do is so important for all of our kids as they ensure everyone's safety and help create a welcoming environment. If you are looking for a way to get involved with the school, being a traffic volunteer is a wonderful way to start! We have had several long standing traffic volunteers and the team as a whole needs to add additional members. Please consider joining the traffic team. If you are interested in learning more or want to volunteer, please contact the team by emailing them at [email protected]. ONLINE ATTENDANCE SYSTEM Patton is moving toward an online attendance reporting system where parents can report an absence for their child by simply filling out this form. You are still welcome to call the office to report an absence, but we hope that families will try this new online system as we believe it will help save you time! Thank you for giving this a try. LUNCH We wanted to take a moment to outline Patton's lunchroom and lunch recess procedures for the year. The lunch hour will now be divided into three shifts. Each shift will be 20 minutes in length. Students will be divided by grade across shifts and will rotate between the lunchroom and the playground throughout the hour. Below you will find the details of each shift rotation. Students will sit by class in the lunchroom. First and second grade students who do not finish eating their lunches during the designated first shift time frame will have the opportunity to stay in and continue eating if they so choose. (They would then be dismissed to recess as they finish eating.) The same opportunity will be provided to third grade students who do not finish eating during the designated second shift. Experience has taught us that fourth and fifth grade students generally require about 15 minutes to eat their lunches. The 20 minute time frame should serve them well. Mr. Larson will meet with students on the first day of school to share this information. Classroom teachers will also be reviewing these procedures with students. Our great team of supervisors are ready to support the students in the lunchroom and on the playground as they familiarize themselves with the system. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with many good times in the lunchroom and on the playground! Back to School Bash! A Note from Mrs. Salsinger
Patton Families, I wanted to say a bittersweet "see you later" to everyone! I have accepted a position as a Student Learning Coach at Thomas Middle School. While I am sad to say goodbye to the close-knit community I have grown to love here at Patton, I am excited for the opportunities to come at Thomas. Not only will I be able to work with more students, but I will also get to see so many familiar faces from Patton. Thank you so much for all you've given me here at Patton, and I will see you all in just a few short years! Mrs. Salsinger Hello Patton Community, We hope you are having a great week! We wanted to remind you that tomorrow the district will be sending out emails that indicate who your child's teacher is. This will likely occur in the afternoon at some point. So as not to overload the system, the emails are typically sent out in waves between the different elementary schools. We ask for your patience during this process. If you haven't received your placement letter by the end of the day, Wednesday, please contact the office on Thursday and Mrs. Hamilton or Mrs. Schmit will be able to assist you. We have also been busy with hiring new staff. For our second grade families, we have seen an increase in enrollment, and have opened a fourth section of second grade! This is great news for our students, as that helps drive down our class sizes. Below you will find pictures and excerpts of all staff members who are new to Patton. These staff members, along with our current ones are all committed to providing your children with an exceptional education! We are excited about beginning a brand new year, and look forward to seeing you and your children. Sincerely, Eric Larson and Kelly Vignocchi PS - In case you didn't catch it in the update we sent last week, we have supply drop off on Monday from 2:40-3:20. See you then! New Staff at Patton
Grade Level Teaching Teams
Special Education, Literacy, Math, EL, Specials Teams
Good Morning Patton Community! Wow, the summer, just like all summers seems to come to a conclusion all too quickly! There has been a lot of activity and excitement happening around the building. As teachers come in to get their classrooms organized, you can literally feel the enthusiasm. We are really blessed to have such an amazing staff! We have a lot more information to share with you, but wanted to give you some things in smaller doses. There is quite a bit more to share, which will continue to come out over the next few days. Below you will find the time and date for supply drop off, when you can expect to receive class placement letters, and just a refresher on our classroom snack rule. In our future updates we will share with you our current staffing plan for the building, pick up and drop off procedures, a new way to report an absence for your child so you don't have to call the school, and some other items to keep on your radar. We hope you are having a wonderful day and look forward to seeing everyone very soon. Sincerely, Eric Larson Placement Letters You should expect to receive an email on August 15, indicating your child's classroom teacher. The email will be sent to the email address that is listed on file in our database. This would be the same email address that you would receive any communication from the Patton office. Supply Drop Off If you would like to bring in your supplies to drop them off in your child's classroom, the building will be open for you to do this on Monday, August 20, from 2:40-3:20 For those who are unable to make this time, students can bring their supplies on the first day of school as this is the only time offered to drop off supplies. Parents are expected to supervise their children while in the building. Classroom Snacks
Classroom snacks are allowed for students in grades one through five, and are eaten at a time that is designated by the classroom teacher. In keeping with our school rule for the past few years permissible snacks are fruits and vegetables in their own skin. If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Sarah Klancnik. |
