Walk with the World on October 4th International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October. Thousands of schools from all 50 states participate every October. This year this world-wide event is taking place on Wednesday, October 4th. Our challenge is for as many families as possible to walk or bike to school on October 4, and we hope it will be a memorable event! Art Activities at Home If you are looking for some simple "how to" videos on creating some beautiful artwork at home with your kids, check out Mrs. Maloney's two videos below and maybe even give one of them a try!

It is so nice to see so many families come together in one place and simply enjoy one another's company. Our kindergarteners looked like they had a wonderful time! Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age Last week an email was sent out inviting parents to a screening of the documentary, Screenagers. Below is a replica of that email for those who may have missed it: Hello Patton Community, Here you will find a link to RSVP for the viewing of Screenagers at Patton Elementary School, on October 18, beginning promptly at 7:00pm. This is a viewing for PARENTS ONLY. We are limited to 250 seats, so please be sure to let us know if you need to cancel your reservation. If both parents want to attend, each parent needs to fill out the RSVP form individually. This will help us with tracking the number of parents who will be attending. We truly believe this will be a valuable experience for all who attend whether your children have their own devices, you are considering purchasing your child a device, or even if you feel you are a few years away from purchasing them a device. There is something in here for everyone, and the primary goal would be that this documentary would be a catalyst for a great conversation at home about devices and screen time. If you want additional information about the documentary, Screenagers, please follow this link. We look forward to seeing many of you on October 18. Sincerely, Eric Larson, Kelly Vignocchi, Idelle Melamed, Kathleen Corley, Barb Donahue, and Whitney Rodriguez Picture Day - October 2nd Picture Day order forms were sent home in your child’s backpack this week.
