BoxTops
Please provide any BoxTops you have collected at your earliest convenience. You may drop them off or just send them in with your student. We will be making one more submission in May. Thank you!
Cleaning up our Courtyard!
We are excited to dig into a new adventure in gardening…. THE PATTON COURTYARD! We have the vision to prune, weed, till, and beautify that area with perennials to make it an area that the teachers and students can go to learn and enjoy. This time of year is a time when many of us separate our perennials. If you are a gardener and have perennials you would like to donate to this adventure, we will have a drop off day on May 19 from 7:30am-9:00am and also after school from 3:35pm- 4:30pm. Plants can be brought directly to the courtyard. Not a gardener, but still want to help? We would happily accept your donation of bags of black dirt as well. Additionally, we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to help with planting. Eventually, we want to turn over the gardening and have it become a student centered adventure. We are super excited to get started and hope we will see many of you, and your plants, on May 19. If you are interested in helping to rake, spread dirt, or plant flowers please fill out this form. We will contact you with more information at a later date. Respectfully, Ms. Leigh and Mrs. Johnson
Project Linus Event
The Social Service Club is sponsoring a Linus Project Day on Friday May 19 at 3:35-5 pm. We hope families will join us to make a simple tied fleece blanket that are distributed by a local Project Linus to children who are ill or traumatized in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug. Sign up below (or click here), bring some fleece if you can, but either way join us for a worthwhile fun afternoon!
Patton Community Traffic Discussion
On May 1, at 7:00pm, Dr. Bein will be coming to Patton to discuss traffic patterns along with pick up and drop off procedures that we have in place. (Dr. Bein is touring all schools in the district for the same discussion.) If you would like to participate in the conversation, please come to the commons! Again, thank you to all of our parent volunteers for their assistance in creating a safe environment for our kids at the beginning and end of the day.

Patton Appreciates Poetry!
On Tuesday, in honor of National Poetry Month, Mrs. Melamed organized Patton's 4th annual "Poem in Your Pocket Day," during which classroom activities, staff readings, and interactive presentations encouraged our students to write and enjoy poetry. Students celebrated poetry by choosing or writing poems to put in their pockets to be ready to share, and spending the day with Bill Buczinsky, the Poetry Man, who entertained us and taught us how to find the rhythm in our words and bring out the poetry in us all! Take a look!
Now Open: Patton's Little Library!
Our Social Service Club is proud to announce the "opening" of Patton's Little Free Library. This outdoor "Take a book, Return a book" mini-library is located on Patton Avenue, at the south east corner of the school. You may use this opportunity to share some of your favorite children's books with other students, while borrowing books that are new to you! We'd like to thank the Social Service Club for conceiving of--and raising the money for--this wonderful project! Please contact the LMC if you have any questions: [email protected].
Fidget Toys
We have noticed an increase in students bringing fidget toys to school, as these toys have increased in popularity and are found in some of our local toy stores. While the desired outcome of these fidgets are very positive, they have become a distraction in our classrooms. Students will be asked to leave their fidget toys at home, unless there are special prearranged circumstances. If a child brings a fidget to class, they will be instructed to put it in their backpack and return it to their home. Thank you for your help and support.
2017-18 Class Placement Feedback Form - Parents
If you click here, you will find a form that you can fill out should you like to provide the school with any information you feel would be important as we consider placement for your child. Please know that the placement process for all of the Patton students is extensive and well thought out. Teachers have been instructed to defer any placement requests directly to me (Eric Larson) as I am the one who has the final say in the process. Please do not contact teachers for special requests as that puts unnecessary pressure on them and can often create uncomfortable situations. It is also important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process. All staff members are committed to providing the best education for your children. This form is to be completed by Wednesday, May 3, 2017 by 4:00pm.

Scenes From Around The School MAP Testing
Parents of students in grades two through five should have received an email message from Jen Adams via email yesterday, but just in case, here it is below: The NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) spring assessments will be administered to all students in grades 2 - 8 in the areas of Math and Reading. The testing window begins next week and testing may take place sometime over the next three weeks. Schedules will vary by building. Sincerely, Jennifer Adams Assessment Coordinator Department of Student Learning Spring Class Photo On Wednesday, April 12th, Patton will have class photos taken--all students will participate, however, due to timing, these photos will not be included in the yearbook. If you would like to purchase one, please have your student bring the completed order envelope to school on or before Wednesday (the envelopes went home in backpacks earlier this week). Big Thank You to Patton's Terrific Traffic Team! On Wednesday morning Patton staff and PTA thanked our fantastic traffic volunteers with breakfast, videos and even fun tee shirts. These dedicated parent helpers perform the essential job of ensuring our students safely enter and exit the school in all types of weather, every single day of the school year. Please join us in thanking them when you next see them! Patton Community Traffic Discussion On May 1, at 7:00pm, Dr. Bein will be coming to Patton to discuss traffic patterns along with pick up and drop off procedures that we have in place.
