It's Cold out There! A few reminders now that winter weather has begun:
MAP Testing Between December 3rd and December 21st, all students in grades 3-5 will be given the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessment in both reading and math. Your child's classroom teacher will communicate specific testing days with you. Results will be shared with families toward the end of January. We appreciate your support with the testing by ensuring students are well-rested and that they come to school having eaten a good breakfast. Thanks for your help! Holiday Shop The PTA sponsored Holiday Shop will be open for business on Friday, December 7, from 7:00-8:30pm in the gym. The PTA is looking for Holiday Shop volunteers, and if you are interested, you can sign up by following this link.
Drop Off With the snowy weather we've recently encountered, we have seen an increase in the number of families driving their kids to school. Because of this, we have also noticed that many students are arriving late to school. Class begins at 9:05, and we are asking families to make every attempt if possible to leave a little earlier so students are not arriving to class late which creates a disruption when instruction has already begun. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

History Came to Life at Patton this Week! Thank you to the PTA’s Cultural Arts Committee for sponsoring Thursday’s assembly, which featured a portrayal of Lewis and Clark traveling up the Missouri river and down the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean. Students learned about this first American expedition with singing, dancing, and some fun jokes along the way. To learn more about the show, or to download curriculum and explore this topic further, please visit the link HERE. High Five Friday! We continued our new tradition of Hersey athletes welcoming Patton students to school on a Friday morning with smiles, cheers and high fives. We are grateful to members of the boys and girls basketball teams for their time and energy. As you can see their presence was well received! Patton Press Click here for the first issue of the Patton Press for this school year! It is full of many great articles, interviews and events by our awesome student reporters. Read and enjoy! From Our Nurse and Social Worker... Patton monitors weather conditions daily. Weather permitting, all of our children participate in outdoor play times. Studies have demonstrated significant benefits when fresh air and free playtime are included in the school day. Studies also show that children who are properly dressed will not become ill or worsen viral illnesses due to weather conditions. All children well enough to come to school are expected to participate in outdoor play. The only exception is a note from a doctor indicating 1) a diagnosed reason to limit fresh air playtime and 2) a prescribed length of time the child needs to remain indoors. We do not honor parent requests. Sarah Klancnik, Patton Nurse ([email protected]) With the colder weather upon us, please reach out to me if you are in need of winter items such as boots, coats, gloves, etc. Barb Donahue, Patton Social Worker ([email protected]) PTA Posts If you ever wanted to reference any of the information that the Patton PTA sends out to PTA members, you can always view it by clicking on the PTA link at the top of this page. Here you will be able to see current information as well as past posts in case you ever miss anything. Look Familiar? This boot (toddler sz 7) was found in the parking lot last week.
