Hello Patton Families, I hope you have a magnificent spring break! We only have a couple updates and a handful of flyers to share with you this week. Sincerely, Eric Larson Spring Weather With spring and early summer approaching, we should expect occasional severe weather conditions. Should this occur around Patton School at or near dismissal time, there is a possibility that the school will delay dismissal until conditions are deemed safe. The school will do its best to get a message to waiting parents, however in the event of a power loss, the messaging system will be disabled. Parents should remain with their vehicles and wait for students to be dismissed when it is safe. Spring Break Schedule

Hello Patton Community, Patton has been buzzing with all kinds of activities this week. On Wednesday, our third graders performed for the school and their families, and they did tremendous! I'm always amazed at the talent and creativity of our students and staff! Below are some updates and reminders for everyone. Please be sure to take a moment to read through them all. Eric Larson ELECTION DAY - March 15 On Tuesday, March 15, there will be elections taking place at Patton all day in the gym. To maximize security, community members will be entering and exiting the building through the exterior doors of the gym. Additionally, there will be a building attendant present from the district. You may recall last year, when we were hosting an election in April, we only had indoor recess in an effort to keep all of our students safe. We will be continuing with that practice again this year. Middle School Creative Arts for 2016-17 We are excited to share the Middle School Creative Arts website with you. This resource has been created to give you more information about the Creative Arts classes that will be offered at both South and Thomas Middle Schools next year. The website can be found here. Each middle school will be sending out information on the scheduling and selection process students will follow later this Spring. If you have any questions about the Creative Arts courses, please contact Nick Filipowski at 847.228.2061 or [email protected]. Patton Lost and Found The sweatshirts, hats, gloves, water bottles, etc that have accumulated this winter will be set out on tables through conferences (March 18th). After this date, any unclaimed items will be given to charity. Feel free to stop in during school hours to take a look! Summer U Registration is Open! School District 25 provides a variety of classes for students currently in grades K-7. Summer U offers two morning times, and runs from June 13 through July 1, 2016. For the brochure, click here. To register, click here. Daylight Saving Time 2016: Set Clocks Ahead March 13 We will lose an hour of sleep this weekend, but gain an hour of evening light for months ahead. Set your clocks 60 minutes ahead before bed Saturday night. The time change officially starts Sunday at 2 a.m. local time. FLYERS
Good Afternoon Patton Community, We may only have eight school days before parent teacher conferences and spring break, but there is a lot happening. Fifth graders are getting started with the Lion King, third graders will be performing next week, and second graders will be putting the finishing touches on their performance in April. There are so many great things happening in our school. I am so proud of our students and staff for all that we are able to accomplish. Patton is a special place! Enjoy the weekend! Eric Larson New First Graders and Kindergarteners for 2016-17 If you have a first grader or Kindergartener who will be joining us in the fall and have not started the registration process, please contact the office right away (847-398-4288) so Mrs. Ryl and Mrs. Schmit can help you get started. We are in the planning stages for next year and the more accurate our student count can be, the better it will be for everyone. Thank you for your help with this. Health Reminder Just a friendly reminder that if your child is sick and has a fever, they must be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Thank you for your help in maintaining a healthy environment for all of our students! Follow up on Lockdown Drill On Wednesday we had our lockdown drill with the police department. Students did a great job following directions to ensure that we were safe. Teachers have conversations with students about what to do when they are inside or outside the building to allow us the greatest chance of being safe. TEACHNOLOGY FAIR AT THOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL3rd Grade Performance Bonjour! Get ready to travel the globe on Wednesday, March 9th as 3rd grade presents “Children of the World!” The performance starts at 6:30 in the Patton Commons. Patton's Lost & Found Overflowing Dozens of water bottles, pieces of clothing, boots, lunchbags, etc have been set out for weeks but, as you can see, the tables are still covered. Items that are not claimed by the end of the month will be donated to a local charity. Parents: feel free to stop by during school hours to see if you recognize anything!! FLYERS
