The Votes are in! All of our students had an opportunity to vote on our official Patton Panther mascot. The students overwhelmingly chose the image to the right. We hope you enjoy the new image as much as the students do. This new logo for Patton will be on our letterhead, apparel, etc. Have You Completed Our Survey Yet?! Each year about this time we ask our current families to complete a "census" survey, which is online this year. If you have not yet had the opportunity, please take a minute or two to complete this survey as it will greatly help us in our planning for next year. Please help us make our goal of 100% participation! Kindergarten Registration Has Started Do you have a child turning 5 years old by September 1st? If so, please visit School District 15's website to start the registration process: AHSD.org. If you have any questions, please call Sue or Penny at Patton: 847.398.4288. STEAM Night Again, we hope those who participated in STEAM Night had a great time. Adam Harris, the Communications Coordinator for the district covered the event and put together this video for us. Dear Patton Community,
This week really flew by. I hope those who were able to attend for STEAM Night had a wonderful time! Our staff put in several hours of planning to put together this great event. We are always looking for ways to improve so there will be a survey coming out for those who were able to participate. Below are just a few updates for you. I hope you have a great weekend! Eric Larson
Hello Patton Community,
I hope everyone had a great week. Today I had the opportunity to be a teacher for thirty minutes in a fourth grade math class. I thoroughly enjoyed working with these kids and the minutes flew by like seconds. It was a good reminder to me the challenges of being a teacher, and an even better reminder for how hard our staff works. In many ways teaching is a calling and is by no means for the faint of heart. Our teachers give selflessly to your children on a daily basis, and this impromptu experience of working with these fourth graders reminded me that it's important that I recognize and appreciate the efforts of our staff. I would ask that you consider doing this as well. There are many ways to show appreciation, but simple notes or cards always seem to rejuvenate the teaching soul. If you aren't sure where to start, you can always click here, and it will take you to a simple form that is really easy to fill out. Have a wonderful 4 DAY weekend! Eric Larson
SKATE NIGHT
The PTA sponsored Skate Night is on January 26 from 6:30-9:00 pm. Admission is free, but we ask that families consider donating 1-2 food items which will be sent to the Wheeling Food Pantry. There is a charge if you need to rent skates. We hope to see you there!
NO SCHOOL!
We received a handful of calls and wanted to make everyone knew that we do not have school on Monday or Tuesday. The front office will reopen on Wednesday.
Valentines Day 2016
Valentines parties are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:30pm on Friday, February 12. Room reps should double check with their classroom teachers to verify the start time as there may be a few exceptions. If your child is passing out Valentines cards to other students, the cards cannot have any candy or food attached to them. Trinkets such as pencils, erasers, stickers, etc., are great alternatives as long as they are not edible. Items such as goodie bags filled with treats or candy are also not permitted.
A Message From Officer Veenstra
Dear Parents, On behalf of the Arlington Heights Police Department and Arlington Heights Schools here are a couple of safety reminders that will keep traffic moving efficiently and more importantly keep our students safe. I have been out to several schools in the past couple of months and observed a few traffic safety issues.
I hope every parent will take a moment to reflect on what we all can do to keep our kids safe. Thanks for your cooperation! Officer Veenstra, School Resource Officer Arlington Heights Police Department FLYERS

For our upcoming Family STEAM Night we are in need of empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls. If you have any that you could drop off at school we would greatly appreciate it. We will take as many as we can get.

Letters from District 25 Nurses
Below are two letters from the District 25 Nurses. The first letter is about preventing the spread of communicable illnesses, and the second has to do with outdoor recess. Please read these so you are familiar with them.
Erin's Law Presentation Dates
Below are the dates that each classroom will be receiving their Erin's Law presentation. These dates are subject to change if either the classroom teacher or the social worker is out of the building on one of these days. If you choose to have your child opt-out of the presentation, please remember to submit your opt-out forms. To the parents who are choosing to opt-out we recommend having a discussion with your child, letting them know that their teacher will be sending them to the LMC or the office to work on a project or read during the presentation to limit your child's confusion about why they are leaving the room.
*Indicates a change from the original date.
