We ask for your partnership in choosing school appropriate costumes for school that do not have weapons, blood, gore, or violent themes. Students who are staying at school for lunch will have an opportunity to change into their costumes during the lunch hour. We look forward to a fun and enjoyable Halloween celebration. Just a couple quick reminders to:
Patton Kindness Update and T-shirt Order
Today Patton students participated in a kindness assembly where we celebrated all we have done in the area of kindness! We also want our kindness campaign to live on throughout the course of the year, and our teachers have put together a great video highlighting what we have accomplished, which can be seen below. The Patton staff will soon be wearing kindness t-shirts, and we wanted to provide you with an opportunity to purchase one for your child(ren) and/or yourself. An order form will be sent home on Tuesday (or you can download it here), and please know that there is no expectation for students to purchase one. We simply wanted to offer this up in case you are interested.
History Up Close
On October 6th, Patton fifth graders attended District 25's annual Historical Reenactment Day. Each year, students have the opportunity to explore life in the late 1700's. The event was covered by the Arlington Heights Post; you can read the article HERE.
Patton students may not take any medications (including over the counter items such as cough drops or ibuprofen) without a District authorization form. The form, which you can get HERE, must be signed by both a parent and physician; the signed form can be dropped off, scanned and emailed to the office, or faxed to 847-394-6681. All medications must be kept in the nurse's office. For a temporary condition (such as a headache), a parent may come to the office and administer the medication themselves.

A Message from Mrs. Ryl
Dear Patton Families, I wanted to share this news with everyone at the same time: I have made the decision to retire in June 2018 at the end of this school year. Thank you for the opportunity to care for you and your children for the past eight years. It has been an honor and a privilege to be able to end my 20+ year career in District 25 at Patton School.
Open Door with the Superintendent will be cancelled on October 17, 2017. Superintendent Bein is always available to meet by appointment.
Please contact Lana O'Brien at [email protected] or 847-758-4871 if you would like to make an appointment.
1Book 1Patton
Families - We hope you are enjoying the adventures of Celeste and Joseph at the Pirrie Plantation. As you can see from the first week's readings this is a story to be read as a family because the students will benefit from parental assistance with both the historical references and the vocabulary. We appreciate that extra time spent on the more challenging aspects of the writing and in school we will provide additional support. We are confident that together the joy and adventure of the story will shine through. Don't forget you can visit the Patton LMC webpage (http://pattonlmc.weebly.com/) to access the reading schedule and chapter videos. We also hope you have carved out your "reading nest" and will send us photos. Be sure to watch the twitter feed #1book1Patton to see all that is happening at school and at home!
Patton Kindness Challenge
Our students are doing a wonderful job with our weekly kindness challenges. This past week has been to perform a random act of kindness toward another person. We always appreciate when families can help reinforce these concepts at home. Below you will find a list of the kindness challenges we have had so far.
Upcoming Three Day Weekends
October 9 - School closed / Columbus Day October 16 - No student attendance / School Improvement Day
Patton Clubs
Below is a summary of Patton clubs available to our students at various times of the year. Prior to clubs starting, details and permission slips are sent home in backpacks.
SCREENAGERS (Repeat Information)
Here you will find a link to RSVP for the viewing of Screenagers at Patton Elementary School, on October 18, beginning promptly at 7:00pm. This is a viewing for PARENTS ONLY. We are limited to 250 seats, so please be sure to let us know if you need to cancel your reservation. If both parents want to attend, each parent needs to fill out the RSVP form individually. We truly believe this will be a valuable experience for all who attend whether your children have their own devices, you are considering purchasing your child a device, or even if you feel you are a few years away from purchasing them a device. There is something in here for everyone, and the primary goal would be that this documentary would be a catalyst for a great conversation at home about devices and screen time. If you want additional information about the documentary, Screenagers, please follow this link. We look forward to seeing many of you on October 18.
