From District 25 Dear parents of 3rd through 5th grade students, Arlington Heights District 25 will soon begin the process of considering students for placement in advanced classes for the 2017-18 school year. There are two types of advanced classes in District 25. One is Advanced Math, which begins in 4th grade and continues through 8th grade. The other is Advanced Language Arts, which begins in 6th grade and also continues through 8th grade. All 3rd grade students are automatically screened for Advanced Math, so you do not need to request advanced math screening for your 3rd grade child. All 5th grade students are automatically screened for placement in Advanced Language Arts, so you do not need to request advanced language arts screening for your 5th grade child. Parents of students already placed in advanced math and/or language arts do not need to request screening again. To begin consideration for placement into advanced classes, parents should complete the form at this link: Parent Request for Advanced Placement. All forms are due by Wednesday, November 16. -- District 25 Advanced and Personalized Learning Veterans Day Patton was honored to host 20 veterans from our family and community today during an all school assembly thanking them for their service and that of all United States veterans. The event included patriotic music by the Arlingtones, a Marine Corps Color Guard, an entertaining and informative speech from Patton substitute and veteran Matt Hahn, questions and decorations by Patton students, a special song from our 4th and 5th graders, and featured a wall of vintage veterans' photographs and their relationship to Patton students and staff. A deep thank you to the veterans who attended and the family members who brought them! Picture Retake Day -- Tuesday, November 15 Students who are retaking their school photo on Tuesday need to bring their original photo envelope with them to school. Those who missed the original picture day will need a completed order form to receive photos. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. From Mrs. Maloney Art portfolios will start going home next week to mark the end of the first trimester. Please be on the lookout for them so they can be emptied at home and the empty portfolio can be sent back to school for the second trimester. If you don't see your student's portfolio by the end of next week, feel free to contact Mrs. Maloney ([email protected]).

The form, which you can get here, must be signed by both a parent and physician; the signed form can be dropped off, scanned and emailed to the office, or faxed to 847-394-6681. All medications must be kept in the nurse's office. For a temporary condition (such as a headache), a parent may come to the office and administer the medication themselves. No Toys from Home Please We cannot allow students to bring playing cards, games, or any other toys from home to play with during the school day, whether we have recess indoors or outside. Unfortunately, this inevitably leads to hurt feelings and lost items.
