Mix It Up Day Photos On Wednesday, Patton's Student Council sponsored its annual "Mix It Up Day," which fosters relationships and friendships across different grades. Just a few photos from this fun afternoon are included below. 5th Grade Musical Costumes Parents! We are looking for help with our costumes for the 5th grade musical- The Little Mermaid. If you have any of the following items around your house that you would be willing to donate to the musical, we would appreciate your help! We will be accepting donations until April 7th. If you are spring cleaning over break and would like to drop something off, please contact Karen Gonzalez at [email protected] or 847.863.3996. Otherwise you can drop it off in the office during the first week of April. Thank you for your help!

Conferences and Break Schedule Thursday March 23: Regular student attendance; parent/teacher conferences in the evening Friday the 24: No student attendance; parent/teacher conferences in the morning March 27 - 31: No student attendance; Spring Break If you would like to sign up for a conference, please click here. As a parent myself, I am always looking for ways to help my child at home and just like you, I want to partner with the teacher. Conferences are a great time to share ideas and gain insights to your child as a learner, learn more about their strengths and weaknesses, and how they interact socially with their peers. Regarding any placement requests for the upcoming school year, teachers have been instructed to route any requests directly to me (Eric Larson) as I am the one who has the final say in the process. Please refrain from contacting teachers for special requests as that puts unnecessary pressure on them and can sometimes create uncomfortable situations. As we have done in the past, we will solicit input from the parents, and you can expect to see this during the month of April. Thank you all for your help with this. Classroom Teacher Roster for 2017-18 Below you will find the roster for the Patton classroom teachers for 2017-18. As decisions have been made within the building we want to move forward with sharing this information with all of you. Should anything change before the start of the school year, we would certainly pass that information along.
After School Club Information On days there are clubs, an announcement will be made at the end of the day reminding students when programs are occurring. If a child doesn't show up to where he/she is expected (club or home), an ALL CALL will be made over the announcements. Parents will be contacted if the child doesn't respond immediately. If no one (parents or school) can locate the student, 911 will be contacted. The school office personnel is available until 4 pm, but will remain available longer if a child is missing. Third party clubs, like Young Rembrandts, Amazing Minds, and Chess Scholars have been informed that they are expected to check attendance at the beginning of their club and contact parents immediately if a child is missing, but was in school that day. A Message About PARCC From The Department of Student Learning Next week, students in grades 3-5 will be participating in the PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) Assessment. The PARCC assessments identify students' current performance, point the way to what students need to learn to be ready for the next grade level and, by high school graduation, for college and/or a career. PARCC will be administered as a computer-based assessment. During your child’s testing window, you can help your child do his/her best on the test by:
Headphones for PARCC - Grades 3, 4, 5 This is the very last Weekend Update reminder (we promise) about headphones. If your child in grades 3, 4, or 5 has not yet brought in headphones, it is very important that they do so on Monday. Please contact your child's teacher if you need any assistance. Tips to Help Students Stop Multitasking During Homework This was a great video that Common Sense Media posted recently about helping students be focused on a single task (in this case homework) and how you as parents can help them.
