For those who want to set up an account, you can go to: http://www.signupgenius.com Fire Drill This morning we had a fire drill at 10:45. The students did a fantastic job listening and following directions. Lt. Traffic Safety This is just a friendly reminder to please abide by the posted signs, particularly along Maude (near the intersection of Maude and Harvard). Everyone has a vested interest in the safety of our students, so please be sure to use the designated pick up and drop off areas. Drop Off Supervision Patton Staff will be outside supervising students beginning at 8:45am. Please be mindful of the time you drop your children off as our traffic volunteers are not able to supervise students on the blacktop as they are directing traffic.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Back To School Bash this evening. It looks like the weather is going to hold out for us! Thank you to the PTA for being flexible and rescheduling this great event for our community. Below are just a few pieces of new information to share with you. Social Service Club For those students interested in joining the social services club, please check out the video below. If you are interested in joining, please click on this link to sign up: http://goo.gl/Hvknrb Information Regarding PARCC & ISAT Below is a short overview from the Technology and Assessment Office regarding PARCC and ISAT: Dear Parents and Guardians: As a reminder, the Illinois State Board of Education has adopted a new assessment of student achievement developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). This will replace the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) that has been used for the past decade. PARCC will require more testing time than ISAT as the PARCC assessment will have two testing windows compared to one for ISAT. The two sessions for PARCC include the Performance Based Assessment (PBA) and the End of Year Assessment (EOY). During each window students will be assessed in reading and math although the test will have different question types and methods. As a district we continually review our assessments to help provide meaningful instructional information for our staff and parents as well as for the amount of time required for student participation. We will continue to communicate developments regarding PARCC over the next several months. Additional resources can be found here: http://www.isbe.net/assessment/parcc.htm http://www.parcconline.org Tweets of the Week

Principal’s Report: Eric Larson
Hello Patton Community, We are officially three weeks in to school and summer almost seems like a distant memory at this point. This has been a busy week at Patton as many students have been engaged in MAP testing in addition to Fountas & Pinnell benchmark assessments for reading. Additionally, we had Music for Youth join us and gave us a wonderful performance. Below are some images from this week. Students were engaged in a multitude of activities throughout the week ranging from self portraits in kindergarten to speed dating with books in fifth grade. The diversity of activities and how students are being engaged at Patton is remarkable. If you have not visited your child's teacher's website, I would highly recommend it. Additionally, if you are a Twitter or Facebook user, we also try to post throughout the week so you can have real time updates on different things that are happening in the classroom. It is a great way to get a "window" into the school throughout the week. At the bottom, you will find some links to flyers and updates from the school and district. Please review the letter from the school nurses regarding the Enterovirus, the letter from the Personnel Office regarding substitute teachers, various club information, the ABC/25 Yankee Candle Sale, in addition to our flyers.
