Monday, October 3rd is School Picture Day! In addition to hair gel and their best smiles, don't forget to send your students to school with the completed picture order form. You have through Monday to order online: www.colorportraits.com. Our school code is 10025401. New Sign In/Out Procedure Beginning Monday, October 3rd: Any Patton student who, for any reason, arrives late to school or leaves early must be signed in and/or out by a parent or guardian. This includes students who are tardy more than 5 minutes, have home lunch, as well as those who leave then return due to appointments. The new procedure will assist our busy office with student accountability and safety. Therefore, if your child will be arriving or leaving Patton during school hours, you will need to enter the office and physically sign them in or out. National Walk to School Day Wednesday, October 5 is National Walk to School Day. We are encouraging families to walk or bike to school on this day. There will be PTA volunteers distributing water to families walking along various paths. Additionally, the PTA has arranged for some special guests to greet students on the blacktop. We hope that if you are able, you will participate in this fun event with us. The Wild Robot Below is the video that was emailed to all families on Thursday regarding the chapters you will be reading with your children over the weekend. PTA Pumpkin Patch A BIG thank you to the PTA for providing an opportunity for the whole community to get together on Friday October 14, right after school until 5:00. Please see the flyer below for additional information. Again, thank you to our incredible PTA for creating these community events.
Animals Not Allowed on School Property Please do not bring pets onto any part of Patton property during school hours or at pick up/drop off. There are signs outside of the property that indicate that dogs are not allowed on the premise. Also, if you bring pets in your car when dropping off or picking up, please keep them away from doors and windows while volunteers are helping children in or out of the car. Thank you for your cooperation. Click HERE for the District 25 E-flyer page. Current events include: - American Diabetes Assoc. - Caregiver Program - Fire Dept. Open House - Fall Musical Workshop - Traffic Safety School Box Tops For Education A very BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Gartrell who will be taking over the Box Tops For Education program at Patton. An equally big thank you to Mrs. Cosley for her many years of service to Patton running the Box Tops program. Here is a link to read Mrs. Gartrell's Box Top letter, or you may read it below. The Wild Robot Thank you to everyone for following along and reading The Wild Robot as a family. Just a reminder that you can find the schedule for reading on the Patton LMC website. Also, please see the video below from Mrs. Melamed of an activity that you can all participate in to help bring Roz and the island to life in the commons at Patton. We have also enjoyed see families tweet their pictures using the hashtag #1book1patton. Artsonia Permission Slips We ran into difficulty when printing out the permission slips and how student names were populating on the form. In an effort to minimize any confusion that might occur we decided to delay when these slips are sent home. You can anticipate them to come home next week. Hard Lockdown Drill Patton students did a fantastic job on our hard lockdown drill today with the police department. The officers commented on how incredibly efficient and safe the process went. Congratulations to everyone. A Message from Dr. Bein regarding Halloween Parties Dear Elementary School Parents: One of the wonderful things about Arlington Heights School District 25 is the partnership between staff and parents. Together, we create amazing experiences for our students! Two of the upcoming, traditional events we have in AHSD25 are our elementary school parades and classroom-based celebrations for Halloween. We are excited to see our students dressed up in their favorite costumes and excited to celebrate with them! This year, food will not be served during classroom celebrations. Please do not send any food items to school for distribution to students. Our Halloween parades and classroom parties will focus on the fun of celebrating together through holiday games and crafts and activities. Halloween classroom parties will be on Monday, October 31, 2016. Following our classroom parties, the Village of Arlington Heights hosts Trick or Treat hours from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Please do thank our teachers, principals, and our PTA room parents for their work in creating fun, engaging Halloween events for our students! I know our students are going to have a great time! I encourage you to also join the Village of Arlington Heights in Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 28th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Public Works building. This is a great event where our students can collect some Halloween goodies from local businesses and Arlington Heights organizations in a safe, indoor environment. Thank you for partnering with AHSD25 to help our students have a healthy and enjoyable Halloween experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (847) 758-4870. Sincerely, Lori D. Bein, Ed.D. Superintendent A Message From Arlington Heights Police Officer Veenstra There is no stopping, standing, or parking on the entire street of Maude near Harvard. Signs at that location prohibit it. No pickup/dropoff of students is allowed. This practice has obstructed the view of pedestrians crossing Maude and motorists driving, which creates a safety concern for the students who cross there. Thank you for your consideration.
ABC/25 Foundation
ABC/25's goal is to support "fostering innovation, creativity, and excellence in the children of District 25." ABC/25 fundraises in a variety of ways, but primarily through membership, Yankee Candle sales, and the Just Move It Challenge. There is no pressure to get involved, but for those who would like more information, please visit the links below: Each year, the ABC/25 Foundation grants $2500 to all District 25 schools when 25% of the schools families become members. Additionally, teachers across the district have an opportunity to write grants for their classrooms to purchase supplies and materials that help foster a creativity and innovation. At Patton we have benefited significantly from ABC/25 and we greatly appreciate their support. Mrs. Maloney's Art Blog Please check out Mrs. Maloney's Art Blog as she will be posting periodically about what is happening in the art room at Patton.
