Hello Patton Community! We are so excited to welcome you and your children to what is sure to be a fantastic school year! The halls have been so quiet and the school feels so empty and we are looking forward to our students breathing life back into the building. Hopefully you are able squeeze some last minute fun and memory making with your families before the start of school. The teachers have been working hard in preparation for our first day and we all believe that this will be a wonderful year for learning. To our new families, welcome to Patton! Each week we send out a Weekend Update that highlights various "happenings" around the building along with information we need you to be aware of throughout the year. Below are updates for you to read at your leisure as we approach August 28. To a fantastic school year, Eric Larson & Kelly Vignocchi New and Returning Staff Members Patton is very excited to welcome Mrs. Wideikis to Patton as our school psychologist. Mrs. Wideikis (pictured to the right) was previously the early childhood psychologist at Greenbrier and we are excited to have her with us and all of the unique experiences and talents she will bring to Patton. A returning staff member is Mrs. Rodriguez, however, many of you may know her as Miss Millichap! Mrs. Rodriguez has returned to Patton and will be serving as our Advanced Learning Facilitator. She is coming back with a wealth of unique experiences that will undoubtedly serve our community as a whole and we are thrilled to welcome her back home! Class Placement Letters Placement letters will be emailed out from the district on Monday, August 21. So as not to overload the system, the tech department will stagger the emails that go out, and we ask that you are patient prior to contacting the office. If you do not receive an email on Monday, August 21, please contact the office on Tuesday, August 22 and Mrs. Ryl or Mrs. Schmit will assist you. Supply Drop Off Supply Drop Off will occur on Friday, August 25, from 2:40 until 3:20. This is a time for families to bring in school supplies so that students do not need to carry them to school on the first day. For families who purchased supply kits, those will be delivered to your child's classroom after they have been delivered to Patton. If you need to purchase supplies, here is a link that will take you to the supply list by grade level. For those who are unable to make this time, students can bring their supplies on the first day of school as this is the only time offered to drop off supplies. Parents are expected to supervise their children while in the building. Pick up and Drop Off Procedures Patton will continue with the same pick up and drop off procedures as we did last year: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade
School staff will begin supervising students at 8:50am each morning out on the blacktop and on the east side of the building. Please see the excerpt below from the parent/student handbook that the district publishes regarding before and after school supervision. New Family Tours For families who are new to Patton, we invite you to take a tour of the building with us. New family tours are being held on Thursday, August 17 at 3:00pm, and Friday, August 18 at 9:00am. Tours typically last between 20 and 30 minutes. Lunch Below you will see what is being served as a hot lunch through the first week of school. If you are a first grade family the district offers hot lunch to your child for free for the first three days of school! For the past three years we have divided our students within the lunchroom be primary and intermediate students and this always resulted in splitting up our third grade students, largely due to space and the number students in the Commons at one time. This year all grade levels will be able to eat together, and in order to make this happen, the lunch shifts will be as follows: First, Third, and Fifth Grade 12:10 - 12:40 - Lunch 12:40 - 1:10 - Lunch Recess Second and Fourth Grade 12:10 - 12:40 - Lunch Recess 12:40 - 1:10 - Lunch Classroom Snacks Classroom snacks are allowed for students in grades one through five, and are eaten at a time that is designated by the classroom teacher. In keeping with our school rule for the past few years permissible snacks are fruits and vegetables in their own skin. If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Sarah Klancnik.
