Panther Activity Day - June 3rd
There has never been a school year like the one we just experienced together. You should be extremely proud of yourself for the way you have persevered through this most unusual time in our lives. We have reflected on this school year remembering the positives...learning from the negatives...and preparing for the future. Even though this isn't our normal Panther Activity Day, I sincerely hope that the activities below will create lifelong memories with you and your family members to cherish. If you choose to take pictures or videos of you and your family performing the challenges please feel free to send them to my email address ([email protected]) and tweet them to your friends! From Mrs. Donahue, Patton's Social Worker
It's almost time to celebrate summer! As fun as summer is, I'm sure we have in the back of our minds "What about next year?" We have no answers to that question yet, but it doesn't hurt to gather information to help us prepare. The article below, written by clinical psychologist Dr. Tara Quinlivan, gives some strategies for parents and teachers about the hopeful return to school. Return to School Article Have a safe and wonderful summer :) Barb Donahue ([email protected])
Teaching Teams for 2020-2021

We wanted to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Jandt as she will be teaching first grade at Westgate next year. We are excited for her and excited for Westgate. We will also be adding Mrs. Pacini to our teaching roster. Mrs. Pacini taught kindergarten last year at Ivy Hill and we are excited to have her joining our team at Patton. We are also excited to welcome Mrs. Aprati who will be serving as an additional math interventionist and will be teaching our 4th grade advanced math students in the fall. Mrs. Aprati comes to us from Olive Elementary.

Lunch Account Balances
This is a reminder that if there is a balance left over in your student’s lunch account, that balance will be carried over for your student to use during the 2020-2021 school year. However, due to the extenuating circumstances caused by COVID-19, you have an option to request that the balance be returned to you via check at the end of this school year. Our Department of Food services will only honor this request if the leftover balance is greater than $10. If you would like that balance returned to you, please call the Department of Food Services at (847) 758-4883. In Case You Missed It From Last Week...Reverse Parade - Monday On Monday, May 11, 2020, at 9:15 am we invite you and your children to drive through the main entrance loop to wave hi to your teachers and staff. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe. We also recognize that not all families and staff will be comfortable or able to participate in this event. For the safety of our staff and your families, have some very clear guidelines to follow. Please read and adhere to these instructions. SAFETY
DIRECTIONS
Teachers will be stationed along the sidewalk of the main drive, socially distanced from each other and your vehicles. We ask for your patience as cars are moving through the drive, and follow the above timeline to the best of your ability. Again, please make sure that everyone stays in the vehicle. We are really looking forward to seeing so many of you in person! Return and Collection of Student Materials Collection and return of student materials will take place May 12 - May 14 at Patton in alphabetical order by last name. Please note the date and time for your family: Materials for about 60-85 students will be exchanged during each shift, so we ask for your patience if you find yourself having to wait a while in the carline. Also, please contact me at [email protected] if you need to arrange an alternate time to pick up and drop off materials. I will do my best to accommodate you.
DIRECTIONS: *PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY*
Hi Patton Families!
Welcome to our ONE BOOK, ONE REMOTE SCHOOL! We are excited to bring our community together in the shared adventure of A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold. Although for this event we will be reading an Ebook with our remote school, many other enjoyable aspects of a shared read are the same as our previous One Book, One School events.
Read/listen to the weekly chapters any time or day(s) during the week that work best for you. The chapters are short and the story is engaging, authentic and features a baby animal! Most importantly this year, let's really try to connect with each other by sharing photos and videos of families reading together and your responses to and ideas about the book using an easy Flipgrid link also on the LMC page. As you know, reading the same book as your student is a special chance to enhance your student’s reading experience, model a love of reading, and share the adventure of good literature. This year especially we hope the few minutes of reading together will provide a welcome respite from a hectic time in our lives. Sincerely, Ms. Melamed, Mr. Larson, and Mrs. Vignocchi

Parent Feedback Form for 2020-21
Here you will find a link to the form you can fill out should you like to provide the school with any information you feel would be important as we consider placement for your child for the next school year. Please know that the placement process for all Patton students is extensive and well thought out. To that end, it is important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process. All staff members are committed to providing the best education for your children. This form is to be completed by Friday, May 8, 2020.
Comic Book Guidance for Coronavirus
In “The Princess in Black and the Case of the Coronavirus,” the Princess in Black gives tips on how to fight the coronavirus, explaining the importance of hand-washing, staying home (even if it means canceling a playdate), and keeping a distance from other people. "We thought it might help if kids had a book friend who gets what they're going through, so we created this PSA to help them understand what's going on and give them some tips." - Author Shannon Hale
