Digital Art Club This new club for 4th and 5th graders will begin after school on Tuesday, January 9th. Permission slips are due Monday the 8th. If you have any questions or need a replacement permission slip, please contact Mrs. Maloney at [email protected]! We'd like to thank the talented Thomas Jazz Band and Choir for their wonderful performance at Patton on Wednesday afternoon. We especially enjoyed seeing Patton graduates!
The Students Involved with Technology (SIT) Conference This annual conference for 3rd through 12th grade students, occurring at several sites throughout Illinois. It originated in Bloomington-Normal and has since expanded. What makes the SIT Conference stand out? It is completely presented by 3rd-12th grade students. While adult volunteers from local schools and the community help the day run smoothly, all presentations are prepared and presented by the students! Westgate Elementary School is hosting this year, and it would be great if lots of District 25 students could attend. Make sure to sign up soon; registration tends to fill up before the end of December. This is a fabulous day for students interested in technology! For details, click on this link and check out the attached flyer. A Note from Your Nurse With the colder, dryer weather our students have been leaving class frequently to get vaseline for chapped lips. Please know you can send your student to school with lip balm (Chapstick or any preferred brand is fine) to keep in backpack or pocket to deal with this common winter complaint more easily and frequently, without missing any class. Erin's Law Presentations Below you will find when our Erin's Law presentations are scheduled for each class. There may be occasions where dates need to be changed, however, this is what we anticipate our schedule to be in 2018. For additional information on Erin's Law, please follow this link, which will take you to a D25 page. On this page you will find presentations, materials used, and opt out forms should you choose. Recognize a Teacher At Patton we encourage our students to live the "The Patton Way." Our teachers and staff strive to be an example for our students on a daily basis. If you would like to recognize a teacher for his/her efforts, please fill out this form and we will pass on the good news to them. Thank you in advance for sending an encouraging word. If you have a child you plan to enroll in District 25 kindergarten next year, pre-registration is open. Visit HERE to learn more. If you know of someone with a kindergarten-aged child, please feel free to pass on this information. Thank you! Pick Up & Drop Off As the weather continues to get colder, we typically see an increased amount of families driving their children to school. I ask that you please continue to follow the guidelines for pick up and drop off, abiding by the assigned pick up and drop off locations. Please drive with caution when using the middle lane and drive at appropriate speeds. Please consider leaving a few minutes sooner as the increased volume of cars simply takes longer to get through the lane. To the traffic team, thank you, thank you, thank you for volunteering your time to help students come and go from school safely and efficiently. You are very much appreciated. Sincerely, Eric Larson From Mrs. Maloney: If you notice your student coming home with this sticker, make sure you ask how they show heart in art! These are brag tags and they are earned through extra hard work and determination in art class. They are very rare, so if you see one, it means someone had an especially spectacular day in art. Reminder from Your Nurse Now that we have begun the time of year with increased head and tummy ailments, Mrs. Klancnik would like your cooperation in keeping our school as healthy as possible. Any student who has a fever or vomits must remain home for a full 24 hours. Please help us avoid the spread of germs! Hats Off (Literally!) Our lost and found is brimming with hats. If your child is missing one (or anything else) please have him or her check out the lost and found bin! JMI T-Shirt Voting Voting is now open through next Friday for the JMI T-shirts. As a family, you get one vote for your favorite design. Follow this link to vote! Recognize a Teacher At Patton we encourage our students to live the "The Patton Way."
