10/31 Halloween - What You Need to Know Change to Kindergarten Pick Up: Pick up for morning kindergarteners will be on the Patton Avenue side of the school, in the same manner and place they are dropped off in the morning. We expect the majority of our students to go home for lunch on this day and the parking lot becomes very busy. 1st - 5th Lunch: ALL FAMILIES need to fill out this form to indicate whether or not their child is staying at school for lunch or going home on Thursday. Students for whom a form is not received by 2:00pm on Wednesday the 30th will be required to remain at Patton, unless a parent comes into the office to sign out their child. All students should be back at school by 1:05 so we can have everyone in their seats and accounted for by 1:10. Menu: The lunch options for students eating at school this day will be Cereal/Yogurt or Pizza Kit, as well as a selection of fruit and veggies. Costumes: We always look forward to the fun and creative costumes our students come up with each Halloween. We ask for your partnership in choosing appropriate costumes for school that do not have weapons, blood, gore, or violent themes. Students staying at school for lunch may change into costumes during the lunch hour. Picture retake day is November 12th; if you'd like retakes please have your child bring the complete envelope on that day. This is also the day to take a photo if your child was absent on the original school picture day. Keep an Eye on the Weather All Patton 1st through 5th graders have recess every day. Temperatures fluctuate a lot this time of year, so please keep an eye on the weather to help ensure students dress appropriately. We have already had some very chilly temps this year. Fall and winter recesses are much more enjoyable when everyone is insulated! And don't forget to LABEL all removable pieces of clothing! Lost and Found We will be donating leftover items very soon. Please stop by or have your student check for any missing items! Click on the links below or HERE for additional topics. Off School Special Nov 27 - Fencers Club - Kindergarten Extension Program - Learn to Skate - Holiday Art Classes - Jump into Dance - Fall Musical Workshop - Preschool for All Artsonia Permission During parent teacher conferences, Mrs. Maloney will have permission slips available for Artsonia. If you have not yet granted permission for your student’s art to be published on Artsonia, please stop by before or after your conference to do so if you’d like. What is Artsonia? Artsonia is an online gallery where students upload pictures of their art. By using Artsonia, students learn how to take quality photos of their art and write artist statements. Do I have to give permission? Your permission is not required for students to upload pictures of their art. However, without parent permission, their art will stay private, meaning only the teacher has access to it. Is Artsonia private? While the photos students upload and their usernames are public, no identifying information is public (last names, photos of their faces, etc) Any questions? Feel free to email Mrs. Maloney at [email protected]. Thanks! Heavenly Hats Foundation Patton's student council once again collected money for the charity Heavenly Hats. This year students raised $478! Donations are used to provide new hats for patients who lose their hair due to disease or medical treatment. Box Tops Box Tops is changing to fit today's families. Robert Crown Parent Night An upcoming parent night will take place on November 12, 2019 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Dunton Administration Building (1200 S. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Melanie Zenisek, Science & Social Studies Coordinator at [email protected] From Our Nurse and Social Worker... Patton monitors weather conditions daily. Weather permitting, all of our children participate in outdoor play times. Studies have demonstrated significant benefits when fresh air and free playtime are included in the school day. Studies also show that children who are properly dressed will not become ill or worsen viral illnesses due to weather. All children well enough to come to school are expected to participate in outdoor play. The only exception is a note from a doctor indicating 1) a diagnosed reason to limit fresh air playtime and 2) a prescribed length of time the child needs to remain indoors. We do not honor parent requests. Sarah Klancnik, Patton Nurse ([email protected]) With the colder weather upon us, please reach out to me if you are in need of winter items such as boots, coats, gloves, etc. Barb Donahue, Patton Social Worker ([email protected]) Patton is Hiring!
