One Book, One School
On Friday we debuted our One Book, One School: Wishtree by Katherine Applegate to our students. One student in your family is bringing home the beautiful book and we hope you will begin reading this weekend. Check the reading schedule on the LMC site at the Wishtree tab: click here. On our website you will also find a special video by the author especially for District 25, as well as discussion questions and activities. Parent/Teacher Conferences - Oct 18 & 19
You can click here to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher. When you click on the link it will take you to a cover page for Patton School that has directions for how to sign up. Once you click on the tab along the top that has your child's teacher's name, you will see all of the sign up times available for that teacher. Principal Open Door Dates
Open Door with the principal is a chance for Patton parents and community members to meet with me to discuss ideas, concerns, or get answers to questions. Conversation from all are welcomed. (No appointment is necessary, but it is helpful.) Please be sure to check the Patton Calendar as dates may change. Currently the open door times are on the dates listed below from 10:30am-12:00pm. October 12 February 8 November 9 March 8 December 14 April 12 January 11 May 10
Patton PTA's Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkin patch is rapidly approaching! It will be held on Friday, October 12th from 3:35-5:00 pm. Order forms were sent home last week via backpack mail to pre-order your Morkes donuts and caramel apples. Payment is due when placing your order and all orders are due on or before Wednesday, October 3rd. Don’t miss out! Late orders cannot be accepted. We will need lots of help to pull off this event: unloading pumpkins, sorting orders, baking homemade treats for the bake sale, selling items at the event, etc. To sign up to help, please click here. Heavenly Hats Fundraiser a Success
Thank you to the generous Patton community for participating in our Student Council fundraiser for the Heavenly Hats Foundation Foundation(TM). We were able to collect $358 dollars, which the Foundation will use to provide brand new hats of all kinds to heroes of all ages who lose their hair due to the treatment for cancer and other medical conditions. The Foundation's website can be found here.

High Five Friday Returns to Patton!
We had another fantastic start to our Friday as the golf and tennis teams greeted our students with high fives. Thank you Hersey High School and Officer Hamrick for organizing this event that has quickly become a Patton favorite!
Kindergarten Family Night - Tonight!
If you have a Kindergartener at Patton, you and your family are invited to join other Kindergarten families on the blacktop for a Fun Fair event on Friday, September 21st from 6:30-7:30 pm! This event is hosted by our PTA.

3rd-5th graders - Join the Patton Press! Our Online Student Newspaper
Do you want to be a reporter for our school? Reporters on the Patton Press write articles for the monthly online newspaper about what is going on in our school and with our students. They interview teachers and students, write about school events and projects, research topics they are interested in, and set up and design their newspaper page using our Google Site template. No experience necessary! The club meets for 4 weeks in October and 4 weeks in November/December on Wednesdays after school, 3:35-4:30 pm. Students may sign up for one or both issues. 3rd-5th graders - Join the Social Service Club!
The Social Service Club is a group of students who are interested in helping and improving our school, our community, wildlife, the environment or the World! Club members will meet in the LMC and brainstorm social service ideas together, split into different groups to work on one of the ideas/projects the group agreed to and sometimes the group will work on one project together. "High Five Friday" at Patton!
Check out our students being greeted by local police officers and former Patton students (now Hersey athletes) as they arrived at school last week. It was a great way to start the day, and we are grateful to Officer Veenstra, his fellow officers, and the high school students who so enthusiastically participated. The order form for Patton's school picture day went home in backpacks earlier this week. Please complete the form and send it to school with your child on or any time before October 1st. PTA Sponsored Kindergarten Family Night
High Five Friday! A big thank you goes out to Detective Hamrick of the Arlington Heights Police Department and the Hersey Boys Soccer Team for getting our students excited about their day with High Five Friday! This special event was such a great way to finish off the week and helps create positive experiences for our kids interacting with police officers and high school students. Everyone wins with High Five Friday! Parent Information Night on the New Elementary School Report Card Please see the informational letter that was emailed home from Jennifer Adams on August 20 about upcoming parent information nights. Both presentations are the same. The first is on 9/13/18 at South Middle School, and the other is on 9/18/18 at Thomas Middle School. Both events begin at 7:00. Please consider attending to better understand the new reporting system. Absences and Appointments There are two ways to let us know your child will miss part or all of a school day.
