Good Afternoon Patton Community,
It is difficult to believe that Winter Break is two weeks away! This has been a really busy week with many exciting things happening throughout the building, which I think you will see in the Tweets of the Week section.
Hour of Code
Next week our students will be participating in the Worldwide Hour of Code initiative. As many of you know we have many students who participate in the Patton Code Club. There are a multitude of benefits to coding, and coding does not always need to happen in front of a computer. This week the Patton staff all participated in an unplugged coding activity. Be on the lookout in upcoming updates for a Family Night of Code coming in January of 2015! If you'd like more information about coding, please visit code.org.
ICTM Math Contest #1
Below are the results of the first ICTM Math Contest for our 4th and 5th Grade students. Congratulations to all of our students. Continue to persevere and work hard. The next contest will be in early February. A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Cioni and Mrs. Anderle for being our coaches for this club!
Tweets of the week
For those who may not have made the leap over to Twitter, I would encourage you to give it a try. If nothing else, you can use it to see what is happening at Patton on a daily basis. Many of our classroom are using Twitter and the school is always tweeting out what is happening. Give it a try and follow @AHSD25Patton.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

December PTA Meeting and Coffee and Cookie Social
PTA will hold our December meeting next Tuesday, December 9th at 9:15 am in the Commons. We will have a very brief business meeting followed by a Coffee and Cookie Social to celebrate the holidays. All Patton parents are invited to attend! We hope to see you at the meeting!
Patton Holiday Shop - Saturday December 6th from 10AM-12PM
Patton’s Childrens' Holiday Shop will be held this Saturday in the gymnasium of Patton School. It is an opportunity for students to shop for special but inexpensive gifts for family and friends. Merchandise is available for purchase by the students with prices ranging from $0.50 - $10.00. Adults and older children “Elves” will be on hand to help the younger children shop, allowing children to purchase surprise gifts for their parents.
Available to parents while their children shop will be the annual Cookie Buffet set up in the Commons. This is an opportunity to purchase a plate for $5.00 and fill it with homemade treats created by wonderful parent volunteers. Also available to parents will be the Parent Vendor Boutique. The Parent Vendor Boutique is an opportunity for parents to purchase items sold by other Patton parents. A Silent Auction will also be taking place in the Commons during the Holiday Shop.
Book Fair Thank You!
Special thanks to the following people for helping set up, cashier, or take down the book fair: Tracy Cosley, Michelle Defazio, Brian & Julie Gartrell, Sarah Harte, Stephanie Park, Michael & Rob Petzold, Don, Judy & Nicole Schoenfeld, Jenny, Adam, & Colin Stanhope, Jennifer Thomas, & Lisa Ulrych. Fitness Club 2015
We are currently looking for individuals who would like to share their fitness talents with our 4th and 5th grade Fitness Club. The Patton PTA wants to encourage a healthy lifestyle with this great opportunity for kids to experience a variety of ways to stay fit this winter. If you or someone you know is a fitness trainer, aerobic instructor etc., please contact Bonnie Alcaro email@example.com. Fitness Club will start after winter break on January 8th.
Questions or Ideas?
Do you have a question or a great idea you want to share with PTA? A topic you would like to see on a PTA Meeting Agenda? Please email your ideas to Patton PTA at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are always looking for help for upcoming events and committees and would love to hear from you! Thank you!
