From Your PTA: School Picture Day Patton's PTA has tentatively scheduled picture day to occur during the last week of February. Remote families will have the opportunity to schedule time for pictures at Patton during this week as well. The PTA is working on options for families who do not wish to enter the school, to ensure their childen are included in the Patton yearbook. Color Portraits has a strict safety process and we are excited to have them back for picture day! Stay tuned.
World Language - 5th Grade Students If you have a 5th grader at Patton, you should have received an email last week about choosing a language to study in middle school. We will be providing both an in-person race (details to come on staggered start times and other safety measures) or virtually! Either way, get ready to support Arlington Heights School District 25 and the ABC25 Foundation! Stay tuned for the registration link, sponsor info and some REALLY fun events leading up to the race! You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Social Distancing Reminders As we continue our mitigation efforts to limit the spread of Covid-19, we are asking that parents review with their children the importance of social distancing. We will continue to remind and reinforce this with our students, and any help we can obtain from families is appreciated. We very much want to be able to keep all students healthy and have them be able to stay in school and not need to quarantine. Assessment Information Below you will find the information D25 recently sent via email regarding upcoming assessments. Patton Staff are currently conducting FastBridge Assessments for select students in grades K-5. You will receive notification if your child is participating in this testing. More information will be emailed to families next week regarding CogAT Testing. Please know that the CogAT assessment will not be offered remotely this year. Remote students will have the opportunity to come into school to test. Dear Parent(s)/Guardians(s): Throughout the remainder of this school year, District 25 students will participate in state and local assessments. The information obtained from these assessments will help our teachers design differentiated instruction as well as help determine who may need academic intervention and who may qualify for Advanced Placement testing. District 25’s guiding principles for our current assessment plan are to assess students safely, obtain a general snapshot of students’ reading and math strengths and needs while being mindful of the students’ and teachers’ instructional time. While we are limiting assessment this winter, our spring assessment schedule aligns with our assessment schedule from prior years. As we learned from administering district-wide assessments this fall, remote assessment can pose challenges for students and teachers alike. For those students who completed the MAP test in-person this fall, technology difficulties were far easier to problem solve, device connectivity was more stable, and student data was more reliable. For these reasons, District 25 will continue to foster a safe learning environment and, whenever possible, invite students into school to participate in most district-wide assessments this winter and spring. Specifics about District 25’s winter and spring assessments and testing windows are below: Please note that classrooms will participate in these assessments at different times throughout the testing window, so be attentive to the dates and times provided by your child’s school. Click here for our assessment calendar. If you have questions regarding these assessments, please contact your child’s teacher or school principal.
Sincerely, Amanda Czerniuk Assessment Coordinator Department of Student Learning Comments are closed.
