Six Flags Read to Succeed - Deadline is Monday, March 1st
Please submit your reading hours online by Monday, March 1st to ensure that your child earns his/her ticket to Six Flags Great America this summer. To submit the hours online, please visit: www.sixflags.com/books The code for Patton is: ZEJ86 Once you enter the code, you will be asked to choose your child’s teacher and then log the minutes for each book your child read. Any student with a log of 360 minutes or more will earn a free ticket to Six Flags Great America for use on designated days this summer. The tickets will be sent to classroom teachers in May. Any questions, please contact Karen Gonzalez at [email protected] Cultural Arts Performance - March 3rd Through a dynamic variety of dances, Patton students will see first hand how movement can tell stories in ways that transcend the limits of words. The Nominating Committee will be presenting the 2020/2021 Executive Board slate. We will also be discussing details of upcoming Spring PTA events. Little ones are welcome to attend! Patton Bingo Night - March, 13th Please join us for the Patton Bingo Night on Friday, March 13th from 7:00-8:30. We are looking for 4 - 5 adult volunteers to help as needed (prize table, bingo checker, front table). Volunteers will be put where needed as the needs of the night change. Patton Movie Day - March 17th Please join us for a Patton Movie Day on Tuesday, March 17th at 10:00am at the CMX Movie Theater in downtown Arlington Heights. The theater will be showing the new Disney Movie Onward. Families interested in attending, need to pre-register and pre-pay for their tickets. Online registration and online payments will begin next week. Registration information will be sent in an email from the PTA. Please keep in mind that our priority is safety. We ask that you, as parents and guardians, review the flow of traffic patterns below and abide by the street signs that you see at Maude and Patton Ave. *We also want to remind all Kindergarten families that all traffic should be flowing south on Patton Ave. from Wilke Rd. There should not be any Northbound through traffic on Patton Ave. during drop off and pick up times. (There are signs posted heading east on Maude at the stop sign as well as heading north on Patton - south of the school - at the stop sign. Please review these signs for times northbound traffic is prohibited. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe! The program has gone digital this year! Paper logs will still come home to track your student’s reading, but then parents will submit the hours read online for their students. The goal of the Mini-Course program is to expose students to new hobbies, interests, and activities. Registration closed on Wednesday, January 15th. All invoices were emailed as of Saturday, January 18th. Please contact [email protected] if you did not get one. All payments will run through the school district’s web store. A link and instructions were included in your invoice. All payments are due by January 23rd, before midnight. Fun Fair - Registration Closes Tomorrow 1/24 The Fun Fair will be held at Patton on Friday, February 7th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Registration for this event will close tomorrow, January 24th. Consider joining our 2020/2021 Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is a small group of individuals that are in charge of the daily happenings of the PTA, including planning and scheduling of PTA programs and events, the PTA budget and fundraising. Our Nominating Committee is working on finding individuals to fill the upcoming vacancies. It you are interested, you may submit your name in the nominee box that is located in the Patton office or you may nominate individuals who you think would be good candidates. Below are brief descriptions of the open positions: 1st Vice President: This person is in charge of updating our Bylaws and our Procedure Guide. They are also in charge of our New Family Mentor program. Programs: This position requires two people. They are in charge of planning PTA programs, including the Pumpkin Patch, Back to School Bash, Pool Party and Ice Cream Social. Treasurer: This person is in charge of the PTA finances. President Elect: This person will learn the in’s and out’s of becoming the PTA President. They will serve alongside the President during their first year and then will become President their second year. Not ready to serve on the PTA Executive Committee? We will be looking for volunteers to take on committee positions (smaller jobs that involve less responsibility and time) in the late winter/early spring. Questions or Ideas?
