May PTA Meeting Update
Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday May, 7th. Our morning meetings usually start at 9:15am. However, due to a band performance happening at Patton on the same morning, our meeting will start at 10:00am. If the weather is nice, we will meet in the courtyard. Please feel free to bring your younger children. They are always welcome. We will have some chalk and bubbles available for entertainment. This will be our last meeting of the school year. We want to open this meeting up to you, our members. We will have time set aside for you to share your ideas about the 2019/2020 PTA. If you have ideas, we would love to hear them. We will also be discussing the proposed Fun Fair, including the budget. We will be installing our 2019/2020 Officers and voting on our proposed excess funds expenditures. Deadline to Order School Yearbooks - Order by THIS Sunday, April 28th Yearbook orders need to be placed by Sunday, April 28th. To order yearbooks go to www.treering.com and click “Buy Yearbook” in the top right corner. You can also download the TreeRing App from the App store for iPhone/iPad. Audit Committee It is time to form our 2018-2019 PTA Audit Committee. This committee meets one time for a couple of hours in July to audit the financial records from the previous year. We are required to have three people to perform the audit. We are still looking for two volunteers. If you are interested, please email us at [email protected]. Thank you! Spring Class Pictures - Wednesday, May 1st Don’t forget to send your payment envelopes back to school if you are interested in purchasing your child’s outside class photos. Payments are due on picture day, Wednesday, May 1st. Spirit Day!!! The most fun and exciting day of the year is just around the corner! Please mark your calendars for this year’s Spirit Day on Thursday, June 6th (rain date: Friday, June 7th). LOTS of volunteers will be needed from 8:45 am until noon that day. Spirit Day is super fun for the kids AND parents too!! Please come help us make it the best one yet. Click here to volunteer. Scholastic Book Fair- Friday, May 17th The Scholastic Book Fair is quickly approaching! We are looking for volunteers to help with setup, cashiers, and take down on Friday, May 17th! Scholastic Book Fair is a great way to get involved. Please join us for the next PTA meeting on Tuesday, April 9th from 7:30-9:00pm. It’s a great way to communicate with other Patton families and staff. There are usually a handful of people who meet up afterwards to socialize. Spring Photo order forms Spring class photos (the pictures taken of your child’s full class outside) will be taken the morning of Wednesday, April 10th. Order forms will be sent home this week in your child’s backpack. If you wish to order one, please complete the order form with payment and send back to school by the morning of Wednesday, April 11th. Also, please send separate order envelopes for each child as this makes it easier for distribution. Teacher Dinner During Conferences The PTA once again provided dinner for all the Patton teachers and staff who worked a long day on Thursday, March 21st. Thank you to our Hospitality Committee for taking care of all the details! Thank You to the Mini-Course Volunteers A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who organized and helped during Mini-Courses. Story Time with the Principal All incoming kindergarten students for Fall of 2019 are welcome to attend story time with the principal on Friday, April 12th at 9:30am. Mr. Larson will read a story and we will also make a craft. Younger siblings are also welcome to attend. We will meet in the Commons. Hope to see you there! RecPlex Pool Party - Sunday, April 14th - Save the Date We will be holding a PTA party at RecPlex on Sunday, April 14th from 6 pm - 8 pm. We have rented the pool and two of their gyms. South PTA is proud to host Jennifer Zielinski, M.A, N.C.C, L.C.P.C. from F.A.I.R. Counseling, Inc. (Families and Adolescents In Recovery) who will give a Free Parent Presentation on Preteen/Teen Anxiety- Thursday, April 11th at 7:00pm in South Middle School’s Multi-Purpose Room. Learn about hidden signs of anxiety, coping tips, and treatment options, as well as ask questions from the floor. Presentation will be primarily geared towards parents of 5th-8thgraders. Arlington Heights Council of PTAs (AHCPTA) consists of all nine (9) D25 School PTAs coming together for the purpose of conference, leadership training, and support. If you enjoy working with the best of the best, then AHCPTA is for you. All work is for the good of every student in AHSD 25! ACHPTA Nominating Committee is currently seeking nominations for OPEN 2019-2020 ACHPTA Officers. Positions needing to be filled are: President-Elect: Assists President as needed while training for position of President the following year.
