Does your student have a passion for technology? Do they like to share with others how they use technology for school and for fun? District 25 and Arlington Heights Council of PTAs will host an Education Fair with the theme of “Teachnology 2016”. Students and staff will have the opportunity to teach peers, parents, and the Arlington Heights community about how they use technology. We hope all Patton students take time for some reading and participate in the (Optional) “Six Flags Read To Succeed” Program. The program began on Friday, January 22, 2016 and ends on Friday, February 19, 2016 – no exceptions! Children are encouraged to read at least 6 hours (360 minutes). They will be rewarded with a free ticket to Six Flags in Gurnee, IL. Parent information and student reading log came home in backpack mail last week. Any questions? Kindergarten Open House Our Patton Kindergarten Open House will take place on Tuesday, February 9th from 4 to 6:30 pm. Incoming kindergarteners for the fall of 2016 are encouraged to come and check out our programs and meet the kindergarten teachers. Mini Course Fees Due If you have signed your child/ren up for Mini Courses, you should have recently received an invoice outlining payments due. We have a limited number of kits and they will be available on a first come basis. Just Move It Challenge Registration is Now Open! Register now for the Just Move it! Challenge. The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs and the ABC/25 Foundation invite runners and walkers of ALL ages and abilities to participate in a 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk that combines fitness and fun for the entire family! Thank you all for serving - we look forward to your nominations. ABC/25 ABC/25 Foundation Teacher Grants have been awarded. The Foundation received a total of 115 grant applications, 84 Karen Wessel Barr and 31 Marian Elliott. Awarded funding were 39 Karen Wessel Barr Grants in the amount of $24,105.05 and 9 Marian Elliot Grants in the amount of $21,587.54. That's a total of $45,692.59 that will be used to enhance District 25 learning. Congratulations to the following Patton teachers who were awarded funds for their grant requests:

All kindergarten families …It’s finally here! Bring your Kindergarteners for a fun time tomorrow, Friday, January 8th from 6:30-7:30 in the Patton Gym. Vote For Your Favorite Just Move It 5K - T-Shirt Design Click on this link to view the finalists of many 5K race t-shirt designs created by AHSD 25 students. A t-shirt bearing the winning design will be worn by Just Move It participants in the spring. Please select the t-shirt design that is your favorite by January 8th when voting closes! Mini-Courses Registration is Sunday, January 10, 2016! Earlier this week, parents received an email containing the Patton PTA Mini-Course Information Packet. We are excited to be able to offer 19 courses from 10 different providers this year and hope parents have had time to look them over! Parents will receive an email Sunday, January 10th, at 7:00 pm providing the link for Mini-Course registration. Register early because many courses fill up on the first day! The Patton Mini-Course Program is a great way for students to explore new subjects, to create fun artwork, and to try new skills. Mini-Courses are 60-90 minute, one-day sessions designed to provide students with something fun and creative to do after school during the winter months. Courses will run on various days of the week between February 1, 2016 and March 16, 2016. Parents will have the opportunity to use Sign-Up Genius to register students for any mini-course beginning Sunday, January 10, 2016. Please look for additional information, including course descriptions and dates, in a separate communication early next week! What A Party It Was! Wow - thanks to everybody who turned out for the Patton PTA Holiday Party at Tuscan Market on December 18th! It was great to spend time outside of school holding adult conversations with so many intriguing Patton parents, faculty, and staff. Let’s keep the party going - here’s to the exciting New Year!
