We could not have done it without all of your help! We had a great turnout! Traffic Reminder As the weather has gotten colder, more families are dropping off and picking up their children. We need families to follow the established guidelines for pick up and drop off. Simple things, such as pulling all the way forward around the curve when picking up and dropping off make a big difference in clearing the line. Additionally, there are times when families are allowing their children to exit the vehicle in non drop off areas. Students should be exiting the vehicles once they pass the school (after the crosswalk). Little improvements go a very long way, and what may appear like small issues (not pulling up all the way, dropping off in the wrong areas, etc.) do cause delays in our process. Thank you, parents, for helping us maintain smooth and safe pick up and drop off procedures. At Patton School we are VERY fortunate to have an amazing group of parents who agree to volunteer their time each and every day at drop-off and pick-up to help ensure a safe arrival to and dismissal from school for all of our children. We still have several issues happening and we need your full cooperation to cut down on the frustrations that traffic team volunteers and other parents are experiencing. **Please Do NOT drop off at the office for any reason in the mornings...whether you can see it or not, just ONE vehicle that does this can create a major back-up out onto Maude and Kennicott. CAP parents - if you see the traffic line forming, PLEASE park your car in a parking spot and not in front of the CAP doors. This causes delays and confusion. **Parents using the curbside traffic line for drop-off and pick-up, please pull ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CURVE AT THE END OF THE BLACKTOP. Our traffic volunteers are stationed down there for a reason and that is to help the most number of vehicles at one time so that we move traffic as efficiently as possible through the line and off the streets. **With more rain/snow ahead of us in the future, please understand there will be some natural delays in the efficiency of the traffic line at both drop-off and pick-up. Please help us out! * Have your children ready to exit the vehicle in the mornings or go and park. * If it’s raining the children need to first exit the vehicle, then move to the blacktop and open their umbrellas at that time. * After school, please load your children as quickly as possible and move through the traffic line so that other vehicles may enter the Main Lot. **Remember that while you are in the school zone, there is no handheld cell phone use. Please consider not using your phone at all when you drop off and pick up your children from school. We move many vehicles through the Main Lot and therefore many vehicles exit using the adjacent streets. Please pay attention at all times to the children and families who are walking and biking on those adjacent streets so that they may also get to school safely. **Please, please, please remember that those vehicles “parked” on Maude along the curb between Patton Ave. and Kennicott are waiting in line to enter the Main Lot as instructed. DO NOT CUT IN FRONT OF THEM. They have been waiting patiently and it is rude to disregard that. Please wait to turn onto Maude until that line starts moving or circle through Patton Ave. back onto Kennicott and head back through.
