PTA Update 11/21/14 Scholastic Book Fair - Monday, November 24th, 8:30am-8pm
Patton PTA will host a Scholastic Book Fair to help raise funds for our Birthday Books Program. This program allows Patton students to pick out a brand new book on their birthday. The fair will feature specially priced books, educational products, & current bestsellers for readers of all ages. The Book Fair brings children, teachers and families together within our community to celebrate reading and learning! Come by before or after your conference or bring the kids back with you sometime throughout the day, so they can pick out a fun new book. Mark Your Calendars - Saturday, December 6th, 10am-12pm Patton’s Childrens' Holiday Shop will be held in the gymnasium of Patton School on December 6th. It is an opportunity for students to shop for special but inexpensive gifts for family and friends. Merchandise is available for purchase by the students with prices ranging from $0.50 - $10.00. Adults and older children “elves” will be on hand to help the younger children shop, allowing children to purchase surprise gifts for their parents. Available to parents while their children shop will be the annual Cookie Buffet set up in the Commons. This is an opportunity to purchase a plate for $5.00 and fill it with homemade treats created by wonderful parent volunteers. Also available to parents will be the Parent Vendor Boutique, which is an opportunity for parents to purchase items sold by other Patton parents, and a Silent Auction to benefit Patton PTA. Help Needed - Annual Holiday Shop We are in desperate need of additional volunteers to help with the Holiday Shop. If you can spare an hour or two on Saturday, December 6th, please volunteer to be a cashier, wrapper or an "Elf Helper" (a great idea for an older sibling looking for service hours), please contact Joanna Esposito ([email protected]) or Rachel Moran ([email protected]) or go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050e4eadab28a13-holiday. Not only will it help put you in the Holiday Spirit, it will also help the lines move more quickly! Calling All Our Talented Bakers! Share your yummy treats for our annual Cookie Buffet at the Holiday Shop on December 6th. Any baked goods can be dropped off in the school office on Friday, December 5th. Holiday Shop Silent Auction We are currently seeking donations from local businesses to auction at the Patton Holiday Shop this year. If you have an item, gift card, or services you would like to donate please contact Bonnie Alcaro ([email protected]) or Leanna Rocks ([email protected]) by November 22nd. Calling All Parent Vendors! Any Patton parent involved with a business or with a product to sell (Pampered Chef, jewelry, homemade bags, etc.) is welcome to rent a table for $10 and sell their products at the Patton Holiday Shop. The tables will be set up in the Commons where parents will be waiting for their little shoppers. Space will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Please contact Joanna Esposito ([email protected]) or Rachel Moran ([email protected]) for a spot! December Market Day Due to the Thanksgiving break, paper orders are due to school by next Monday, 11/24. They can be submitted online by 11 PM on Saturday, 11/29. There will be some changes to the online order cut off in January and we'll be moving to a Friday online order cut off. Also starting in January, Peapod will no longer offer select Market Day products. You will be able to find these in the GFS stores, and we are lucky to have one nearby on Rand Road in Palatine. Please contact Beth Ligenza, [email protected], if you have any questions. Recycle Your Old Jeans at Patton Patton PTA is collecting denim for J Crew’s denim recycling drive. Collected jeans will be recycled to make eco-friendly denim insulation for communities in need. If you take your jeans directly to J Crew, you will receive a $20 coupon toward purchase of a new pair of jeans. If you would prefer Patton PTA handle the transportation for you, drop your jeans in the collection bins outside the office through November 25th. Please see the following link for more information on the program:https://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/DenimDrive.jsp Fitness Club 2015 We are currently looking for individuals who would like to share their fitness talents with our 4th and 5th grade Fitness Club. We'd like to give the kids different experiences for how to stay fit this winter. If you or someone you know is a Fitness trainer, aerobic instructor etc. please contact Bonnie Alcaro [email protected]. Fitness Club will start after winter break on January 8th. Questions or Ideas? Do you have a question or a great idea you want to share with PTA? A topic you would like to see on a PTA Meeting Agenda? Please email your ideas to Patton PTA at [email protected].
