A Buddy Bench for Patton!
On Tuesday, May 29, Patton School debuted a Buddy Bench for our Patton playground! A Buddy Bench is a special place for a student to sit when they feel lonely and would like someone to play with or talk to. On the other hand, when you see a student is sitting there, it is your responsibility as a good and kind Patton citizen to sit down and talk to the student sitting there and ask them to play. The Social Service Club identified this bench as a worthy addition to Patton last year and several club members helped research different benches, and then present the idea to Mr. Larson. He agreed this was a good idea and purchased the bench for the school. Thank you to all the Social Service Club members who helped with this project but particularly Jimmy Catsaros and Cullen Watanuki who spearheaded the project all the way to completion on Tuesday.
The District 25 Book Trailer Festival is on!
Need a good book? Check out the 2nd annual District 25 Book Trailer Festival! This past month 5th grade students in all seven elementary schools created a book trailer for a favorite book. Book trailers are like a video advertisement for a book, using persuasive imagery and voice or text to build interest in a book and encourage reading! We have now paired up 5th grade classes to view and rate each other's class trailers and the class winners will be viewed by a District committee who will determine a school winner. Access the Festival website below to watch the trailers and see the competition unfold: District 25 Book Trailer Festival
