Hello Patton Community,
I hope you and your children had a great week! Below are a few updates for you to look through. As always, if you want to see what's happening at Patton on a day to day basis, please follow us on our Twitter or Facebook feeds. Have a wonderful weekend! Eric Larson LITERACY THOUGHTS
Last night I attended the Literacy Presentation for parents that was hosted at Greenbrier Elementary School. I wanted to highlight one slide in particular about the home/school connection and how you can help support your child as a reader. The steps are simple but if you are looking for ways to start conversations about reading with your child, the points below could help get you started.
GLOBAL READ ALOUD
In connection with Global Read Aloud Ms. Ricci's 4th grade and Mrs. McLoone's 2nd grade each held a "Mystery Skype" to meet the classes they will be communicating with for their respective books. Each class asked a series of geography questions and gave a few hints until they located each other. We found one in Michigan and the other in Ontario, Canada!

PICTURE DAY
A friendly reminder that Monday is picture day. Please try not to wear green shirts as that may cause a little bit of a problem with the digital photographs. We look forward to seeing all of the smiling faces!
NO SCHOOL - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
On Friday, October 9 there is no school for students. Teachers will be present at the building and will be receiving training on the new literacy curriculum as well as pouring over the most recent assessment data to try and meet the needs of all our learners at Patton.
