Hello Patton Community, As we approach Halloween weekend, we wanted to take a moment to share how you and your children can "Be a D25 PAL" for our friends, young and old with food allergies. (PAL stands for Protect A Life.) Ways that you can be a PAL include:
On Wednesday, your child will be given a flyer that contains the information listed above. Additionally, they will receive a teal bracelet (teal is the color for food allergies) to wear. All elementary students across the district will be receiving the same message and bracelet. The Teal Pumpkin Project is a movement where homes paint their Halloween pumpkin teal. By painting your pumpkin teal and placing it outside your home you are indicating to kids and families that you are distributing non-edible treats that are safe for kids who have food allergies. This is a fun and safe way to ensure that everyone has a great Halloween experience. The Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) organization has great resources for parents, kids, and families if you'd like to learn more about what it means to Be a PAL. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Halloween. Comments are closed.
