Patton Appreciates Poetry!
On Tuesday, in honor of National Poetry Month, Mrs. Melamed organized Patton's 4th annual "Poem in Your Pocket Day," during which classroom activities, staff readings, and interactive presentations encouraged our students to write and enjoy poetry. Students celebrated poetry by choosing or writing poems to put in their pockets to be ready to share, and spending the day with Bill Buczinsky, the Poetry Man, who entertained us and taught us how to find the rhythm in our words and bring out the poetry in us all! Take a look!
Now Open: Patton's Little Library!
Our Social Service Club is proud to announce the "opening" of Patton's Little Free Library. This outdoor "Take a book, Return a book" mini-library is located on Patton Avenue, at the south east corner of the school. You may use this opportunity to share some of your favorite children's books with other students, while borrowing books that are new to you! We'd like to thank the Social Service Club for conceiving of--and raising the money for--this wonderful project! Please contact the LMC if you have any questions: [email protected].
Fidget Toys
We have noticed an increase in students bringing fidget toys to school, as these toys have increased in popularity and are found in some of our local toy stores. While the desired outcome of these fidgets are very positive, they have become a distraction in our classrooms. Students will be asked to leave their fidget toys at home, unless there are special prearranged circumstances. If a child brings a fidget to class, they will be instructed to put it in their backpack and return it to their home. Thank you for your help and support.
2017-18 Class Placement Feedback Form - Parents
If you click here, you will find a form that you can fill out should you like to provide the school with any information you feel would be important as we consider placement for your child. Please know that the placement process for all of the Patton students is extensive and well thought out. Teachers have been instructed to defer any placement requests directly to me (Eric Larson) as I am the one who has the final say in the process. Please do not contact teachers for special requests as that puts unnecessary pressure on them and can often create uncomfortable situations. It is also important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process. All staff members are committed to providing the best education for your children. This form is to be completed by Wednesday, May 3, 2017 by 4:00pm.
